Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Officers state they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police say preliminary tests show the substance was most likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative said the attack rendered him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
